The Legal 500 Honors Fenwick as a Top U.S. Law Firm

Mountain View, CA (August 29, 2016) – Fenwick & West is pleased to announce that The Legal 500 has again recognized Fenwick as one of the top law firms in the United States, with 11 Fenwick practices listed as among the best in the country.

This year's total of 44 Fenwick attorneys earning recognition in at least one category includes seven who are named "Leading Lawyers." The number of Fenwick lawyers receiving top-tier rankings has increased nearly ten percent since 2015.

Corporate

The Legal 500 heralded Fenwick as “a leader within the venture capital market… [that] advises technology and life sciences sector clients across the range of life cycle stages.”

The guide praised Fenwick’s M&A practice, noting its work representing well-known serial acquirers. “Fenwick & West LLP stands out for its highly respected technology M&A practice, regularly advising on serial acquisitions for established private companies, including Dropbox, and public companies such as Facebook and Cisco Systems.”

Intellectual Property

The Legal 500 highlighted Fenwick’s intellectual property work including the firm’s “strong post-grant proceedings practice” and the firm’s patent prosecution group for its “particular experience acting for technology companies, which span the life cycle from startup to publicly traded, household names.”

Tax

The firm’s tax practice also received recognition for international tax, tax litigation and non-contentious work. Of Fenwick’s international tax practice, the guide wrote, “Fenwick & West LLP’s ‘superb’ California-based team contains a ‘number of very experienced lawyers.’ It regularly acts on complex international joint venture transactions and cross-border M&A, as well as, recently, a number of high-profile inversions. The team, which is led by David Forst, is also noted for its tax controversy and transfer pricing expertise.”

Litigation

The Legal 500 also highlighted Fenwick’s litigation work. Speaking to Fenwick’s securities litigation practice, a client told The Legal 500 that “the firm has an increasingly strong practice.” The guide also mentioned Fenwick’s representation of leading clients in other high profile cases including the firm’s successful representation of service provider Giganews in a copyright infringement suit.
