Fenwick's Robert Sachs Honored Among Top 10 Patent Thought Leaders

Fenwick patent partner Robert Sachs has been honored with JD Supra’s annual Readers’ Choice Award for his thought leadership in the patent space. He ranks among the top 10 authors who earned the highest level of visibility and engagement for their patent-related analysis and commentary published on JD Supra in 2016.

The only lawyer from a Silicon Valley-based firm honored in the patent category, Sachs ranks sixth on the list of top patent authors.

He concentrates his practice on strategic patent counseling and prosecution for software technologies. One of his core areas of expertise is patentable subject matter: the question of what kinds of inventions are eligible for patent protection, and particularly whether software and life sciences related inventions are patentable.

Sachs co-chairs the Intellectual Property Owners Association Section 101 Legislation Task Force, where he guided the development of the IPO’s legislative proposal to amend Section 101 of the Patent Act. He also co-chairs the AIPLA’s Section 101 subcommittee.

Additionally, Sachs publishes the highly regarded Bilski Blog, presenting detailed data and analysis of the trends in Section 101 which are frequently cited in news articles, blogs, court filings and Federal Circuit opinions.

The JD Supra Readers’ Choice awards also honored Fenwick lawyers Stefano Quintini and Hilary Cox for authoring one of 2016’s top five most-read pharmaceutical articles.
