Profile Mr. Steskal is a partner in the Litigation Group and is Chair of the firm's White Collar/Regulatory Group. Mr. Steskal is resident in the San Francisco office. His practice focuses on white collar criminal defense, internal corporate investigations, SEC and other regulatory enforcement matters, securities litigation and complex commercial litigation.

Prior to joining Fenwick & West, Mr. Steskal served for nearly six years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of California in San Francisco. He was a member of the Securities Fraud Section and one of the founding members of the Northern District's Stock Options Backdating Task Force.

During his tenure as a federal prosecutor, Mr. Steskal prosecuted a wide variety of white collar crimes, including securities fraud, mail and wire fraud, public corruption and money laundering. He represented the United States in numerous jury trials, evidentiary hearings and appeals before the Ninth Circuit. Mr. Steskal worked closely with the SEC in San Francisco, Washington, D.C. and elsewhere while conducting corporate fraud investigations. He was lead counsel in several stock option backdating investigations involving Silicon Valley companies, investigations of technology companies for revenue recognition fraud and other corporate fraud investigations.
