  • Profile Mr. Meyer counsels clients on intellectual property matters, including technology-based litigation, performing strategic intellectual property planning and intellectual property audits for technology companies, and securing patent, copyright, and other intellectual property rights.

    His client portfolio includes a wide variety of technology companies, from small start-ups to multinational public companies. Mr. Meyer has also represented other organizations prominent in technology, such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, for which he served as counsel in litigation involving the so-called RSA encryption patent, considered to be fundamental to data privacy.

    Additional Information Mr. Meyer has been a guest lecturer on copyright law at the University of California’s Boalt Hall School of Law. He has contributed to books and authored numerous articles on intellectual property law. He is frequently invited to lecture on this topic throughout the United States and abroad. Mr. Meyer was recently named one of The Best Lawyers in America 2011 in Information Technology Law. He was also named to The International Who's Who of Internet & e-Commerce Lawyers, 2009 and The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers, 2010 published by Who's Who Legal. Intellectual Asset Management magazine includes Mr. Meyer in their IAM 250-The World's Leading IP Strategists guide for 2009 and 2010.

    Mr. Meyer was an electrical engineer with an engineering consulting firm in the telecommunications area before entering law school. He received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, his M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Princeton University, and his J.D. from Yale Law School.

    His affiliations include the International Technology Law Association, formerly the Computer Law Association (of which he is a past president); the American Intellectual Property Law Association; the Intellectual Property Owners Association; the American Bar Association Section on Patent, Trademark & Copyright Law; the Association for Computing Machinery; and the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers.
