Fenwick Elects New Partners

Mountain View, CA (October 24, 2016)– Fenwick & West today announced the election of three attorneys to the partnership, effective January 1, 2017.

The new equity partners are Andrew Albertson and Melanie Mayer, Ph.D., based in Seattle, and Jonathan Millard, based in San Francisco. The trio represents the corporate, litigation and intellectual property practices at Fenwick.

Andrew Albertson focuses on providing strategic and practical counseling to high growth technology and life sciences companies, ranging from early startup teams to mature public companies, as well as many leading venture capital and private equity firms. Albertson has extensive experience structuring, negotiating and executing a wide variety of strategic corporate transactions. He received his J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law and B.A. in Accounting from the University of Washington, Foster School of Business.

Melanie Mayer, Ph.D. focuses on intellectual property litigation and arbitrations as well as counseling primarily for biotechnology and other life sciences companies. She also handles inter partes review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and advises on freedom to operate and due diligence issues. Mayer received her Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Genetics from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law and B.S. in Biochemistry from Alma College.

Jonathan Millard handles intellectual property aspects of corporate transactions and also advises on a broad range of commercial agreements for clients in the high technology and life sciences industries. Millard has experience advising on global outsourcing transactions and structuring and negotiating licensing transactions and strategic alliances. In addition, he regularly counsels clients with respect to privacy issues and international aspects of personal data processing and transfer. Millard received his LL.B. in Law from the University of Exeter and PGD in Commercial Intellectual Property as well as his LPC from Nottingham Law School.
