Fenwick & West Elects Five New Partners

October 7, 2002 (Palo Alto, CA) - Fenwick & West LLP announced today that five associates were elected partners at the firm's annual partnership meeting held Saturday, October 5 in Palo Alto. The new partners are Rodger R. Cole, Brian M. Hoffman, Rajiv P. Patel, Lynda M. Twomey and Jedediah Wakefield.

Rodger R. Cole (Palo Alto), 33, has been an associate in the Litigation Group since 1995. His practice focuses on copyright, trademark, advertising and commercial litigation, primarily for high technology companies. He received his J.D. magna cum laude from Santa Clara University Law School in 1995 and his B.A. in 1991 from the University of the Redlands, where he was the National Debate Tournament champion in 1991.

Brian M. Hoffman (San Francisco), 33, has been an associate in the Intellectual Property Group since 1996. His practice concentrates on patent prosecution and litigation in the computer hardware and software industries. He obtained his J.D. with high honors from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1994 and received his B.S. in computer science from Columbia University in 1991.

Rajiv P. Patel (Palo Alto), 35, has been an associate in the Intellectual Property Group since 1995. His practice emphasizes patent portfolio development, management and prosecution, patent counseling and patent litigation for high technology companies. Prior to attending law school, Patel worked as an engineer with IBM Corporation. Patel also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where he teaches a class on patent practice. He received his J.D. and Master of Intellectual Property from Franklin Pierce Law Center in 1995 and his B.S. with high honors in electrical engineering from Rutgers University in 1989.

Lynda M. Twomey (San Francisco), 34, has been an associate in the Corporate Group since 1994. Her practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, venture financings and business counseling for high technology clients. Prior to joining Fenwick & West, Twomey worked as a solicitor in one of Ireland's largest law firms. She studied law at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, where she graduated with an LL.B. degree with honors in 1989. Twomey was admitted to practice in California in 1994.

Jedediah Wakefield (San Francisco), 33, has been an associate in the Litigation Group since 1997. His practice emphasizes intellectual property litigation with a focus on trademark, right of publicity and copyright issues. He received his J.D. cum laude from Santa Clara University in 1995 and a B.A. in English with highest honors from University of California, Santa Barbara in 1992. Wakefield also served as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Judge James Ware, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
