Fenwick’s Ashley Walter to Chair Corporate Social Responsibility Task Force

Mountain View, CA (January 13, 2014) – Fenwick & West is pleased to announce that corporate social responsibility practice group chair Ashley Walter has been selected to chair the new Corporate Social Responsibility Law Task Force of the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section. Founded by Walter, the task force is dedicated to equipping lawyers with skills to effectively guide their clients through CSR-related legal matters and to advancing knowledge and expertise around emerging CSR-related laws.

“I’m honored to be working with the Business Law Section to support the development of expertise in this increasingly important area of law,” said Walter. “Given the advent of CSR-related legal requirements, the development of CSR strategy has become a legal endeavor, and companies need to have attorneys they can look to for deep expertise across the various and disparate practices and subject matters that CSR touches.”

Chair of Fenwick’s corporate social responsibility practice group, Walter advises technology companies on a wide variety of corporate and securities law matters, including formations, venture capital financings, commercial arrangements, mergers and acquisitions and public offerings. He helps his clients comply with CSR-related legal requirements and provides advice with respect to the development of CSR strategy. His current and prior CSR clients include, Broadcom, Cisco Systems, Cray, Netgear and Spreadtrum Communications, among others.

The Business Law Section’s meeting in April will feature a launch event for the Corporate Social Responsibility Law Task Force where Walter will moderate a panel entitled “The Corporate Social Responsibility Lawyer: The Emergence of a New Practice Area.”
