Ora Grinberg focuses her practice on U.S. corporate and international taxation. She represents clients in tax planning and tax controversy matters, with emphasis on international tax planning, cross-border and domestic mergers and acquisitions and restructuring. Her clients come from a diverse set of industries and geographic jurisdictions (including both domestic and foreign entities) and range in size from startups to large Fortune 500 companies.

Ora has substantial experience representing buyers and sellers in domestic and cross-border merger and acquisition transactions. In some noteworthy transactions, she represented:

  • Symantec in its $7.4 billion sale of its worldwide information management business – a transaction for which Fenwick & West was honored with the Global Private Equity Deal of the Year award by M&A Atlas
  • Symantec in its sale of its worldwide Website Security business to DigiCert
  • Diamond Foods in its approximately $1.9 billion acquisition by Snyder’s-Lance
  • Shutterfly in its $825 million acquisition of Lifetouch
  • Cisco in several acquisitions, including its $3.7 billion acquisition of AppDynamics, its $1.9 billion acquisition of Broadsoft, its $1.4 billion acquisition of Jasper Technologies and its $700 million acquisition of Acano (a U.K. company)

Ora was recognized on Euromoney’s inaugural list of Americas Rising Stars in Tax and Tax Disputes and honored by California Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in 2018. Ora also appears in Euromoney’s 2018 Expert Guides: Rising Stars in the Tax category, her second consecutive year winning this honor.

Fenwick has one of the World’s Top Tax Planning and Tax Transactional Practices, according to International Tax Review, and is first tier in Tax Planning, Tax Transactional, and Transfer Pricing, according to World Tax. Fenwick is consistently named San Francisco Tax Firm of the Year by International Tax Review. Fenwick also has received multiple International Tax Review M&A tax awards including “Americas M&A Tax Firm of the Year.”

Ora speaks at conferences for professional tax groups and regularly leads workshops on Business Law Basics for new entrepreneurs and small businesses. She regularly provides pro bono services to various nonprofit organizations and low-income individuals. For the last 7 years, Ora has volunteered for Tax-Aid as a tax expert and has served as co-site manager for the last 6 years.

During law school, Ora has served as a Supervising and Senior Executive Editor for the Berkeley Business Law Journal and was a recipient of the Berkeley Law and Economics Fellowship.​​​​
