Fenwick & West was founded in 1972 in the heart of Silicon Valley—before “Silicon Valley” existed—by four visionary lawyers who left a top-tier New York law firm to pursue their shared belief that technology would revolutionize the business world and to pioneer the legal work for those technological innovations. In order to be most effective, they decided they needed to move to a location close to primary research and technology development. These four attorneys opened their first office in downtown Palo Alto, and Fenwick became one of the first technology law firms in the world.  MORE >

Medicine on the Move & Roundtable with US Department of State's IVLP Leadership Participants

Medicine on the Move (MoM) is a Ghanaian non-profit organization operating in Kpong. Its mission is to improve the lives of West Africans by providing healthcare education and regular medical services to rural communities in Ghana.

MoM is doing this by training young Ghanaian women in a comprehensive four-year program centered around aviation and health care. This program combines the best aspects of an apprenticeship system, a vocational school, and a boarding school, and the graduates will soon constitute the core staffing for the aviation and health infrastructure which is under development. Key principles underpinning MoM’s evolution are to ensure that MoM operates sustainably in the long run, and that the organization responds effectively and flexibly to the requirements of the rural Ghanaian environment.

The presentation will describe the training program, infrastructure development (including aircraft construction and maintenance), collaboration with other organizations, as well as the way aviation supports health services.

Each year more than 5,000 International Visitors come to the U.S. on the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). More than 200,000 International Visitors have engaged with Americans through the IVLP, including over 330 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government.

Launched in 1940, the IVLP helps strengthen U.S. engagement with countries around the world and cultivate lasting relationships by connecting current and emerging foreign leaders with their American counterparts through short-term visits to the United States. The majority of IVLP exchanges include visits to four U.S. communities over three weeks, although projects vary based on themes, Embassy requests and other factors. Participants meet with professional counterparts, visit U.S. public and private sector organizations related to the project theme and participate in cultural and social activities.

TAN will host a round-table discussion with IVLP participants. The discussion will focus on the themes of entrepreneurship, leadership, best business practices, and supporting entrepreneurs from disadvantaged backgrounds.
