Fenwick & West LLP represented Imgur LLC, the fast and easy service for sharing images on the Internet, in its recently announced $40 million Series A Financing from Andreessen Horowitz. The round also included a smaller contribution from Reddit, the forum that contributed to Imgur's rapid ascent. In addition, Lars Dalgaard of Andreessen Horowitz will join the Imgur board of directors.
The company will use the Andreessen investment to help across areas including both product and ads, which will add more selective, quality ads–not just more ads. The funds will also help with hiring, which Imgur expects to either double or triple its 13-person team over the next year. The Reddit investment will help with formalizing the two sites, making them more symbiotic and possibly even more integrated in some way. More information about Imgur can be obtained from the company website.
The Fenwick transaction team was led by corporate partner Sam Angus; and corporate associate Lara Anthony.
