Fenwick & West LLP represented Cisco Systems, Inc. in its recently announced acquisition of privately-held Sipura Technology, Inc. of San Jose, California. Sipura is a leader in consumer voice over internet protocol (VoIP) technology and is a key technology provider for Linksys' current line of VoIP networking devices. Cisco will pay approximately $68 million in cash and options for Sipura. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and closing conditions, and is expected to close during Cisco's fourth quarter ending July 30, 2005. This represents Cisco's first acquisition for its Linksys division. Fenwick & West represented Cisco in its acquisition of Linksys in March, 2003.
