  • FLEX Recruiter & Engagement Specialist

    Job Description Summary

    Reporting to the General Manager of FLEX, the ideal candidate will have knowledge of the legal profession and legal practice areas, along with experience in recruiting, professional development, or human resources; or a position managing professionals with demonstrable hiring, recruiting, and networking experience.

    Job Description

    • Source and select high quality attorneys suited for FLEX engagements, using tools including LinkedIn Recruiter
    • Create job descriptions and develop a job posting strategy
    • Evaluate resumes and phone screen attorney candidates, drafting and posting clear notes on candidates in the applicant tracking system (currently Bullhorn)
    • Assess the legal skills and counseling styles of the FLEX candidates through our testing process
    • In collaboration with the FLEX management team, assess and set compensation for FLEX attorneys; discuss and set compensation with FLEX attorneys
    • Build professional relationships with attorneys on the FLEX roster – understand their skills and experiences
    • Use FLEX technology tools to analyze recruiting and engagement success
    • Develop recruiting and hiring goals and a comprehensive plan on meeting the goals
    • Understand and apply HR policies relevant to FLEX attorneys
    • Remind FLEX attorneys of the rigorous conflicts policies while on FLEX engagements
    • Communicate with attorneys to ensure the effective resolution of attorney issues as they arise
    • Support the client development efforts by making recommendations of attorneys for projects that the attorneys are interested in pursuing
    • Develop working knowledge of the client engagement functions of FLEX
    • Assist with client development needs and placement requests in support of client engagement managers
    • Perform other related duties as assigned

    Desired Skills and Qualifications:

    • Law degree and in-depth understanding of legal practice and specific skills and experiences required to provide professional legal advice
    • Recruiting experience, preferably in the legal field
    • Very strong organizational and time management skills
    • Outstanding interpersonal skills with ability to adjust communication style to suit the situation.
    • Remain productive, efficient, conscientious, and collaborative under pressure with tight deadlines
    • Highly self-motivated; works well within a team environment and communicates appropriately in all professional settings
    • Proficient in MS Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
    • Ability to comprehend complex legal and technical language

  • FLEX Recruiter & Engagement Manager

    Job Summary

    The FLEX Recruiter and Engagement Manager will be responsible for sourcing, vetting, and onboarding FLEX attorneys, responding to client requests, suggesting FLEX attorneys for potential client engagements, and managing client engagements from negotiation through implementation. This role will identify and develop new client opportunities, as well as maintain and enhance relationships with existing clients and attorneys on active engagements.

    Essential Duties And Responsibilities

    Recruiting:

    • Manage the hiring process, including creating job descriptions and developing a job posting strategy, evaluating candidate’s resumes against hiring needs, phone screening candidates, gathering interview feedback, assessing the legal skills of the candidates through testing process, providing judgment calls regarding conflicts concerns, and reviewing and suggesting compensation for attorney candidates
    • Effective use of online recruiting tools (e.g. LinkedIn)
    • Develop broad and deep knowledge of the FLEX roster of attorneys and suggest appropriate candidates for client engagement opportunities
    • Build significant professional relationships with attorneys on the FLEX roster
    • Act as the point person related to HR policy matters for FLEX
    • Communicate with attorneys to ensure the effective resolution of attorney issues as they arise
    • Perform other related duties as assigned

    Client Engagement:

    • Research prospective clients and respond to inbound requests for FLEX services
    • Develop strong knowledge of the roster of FLEX attorneys and their skills, experiences, styles, and preferences
    • Respond to partner and associate requests for client support quickly and clearly
    • Consult General Manager (GM) regularly on business development strategy, and keep GM informed about FLEX operations
    • Develop expertise in using the FLEX data management system to input information about FLEX attorneys, clients, and engagements – as well as expertise in searching for appropriate attorneys for client requests
    • Recommend, select, and submit suitable attorney candidates to meet client’s legal needs
    • Prepare attorneys for the interviews with the client
    • Negotiate price and contract terms with the client
    • Contact clients and attorneys to obtain feedback, handle issues in an efficient manner, and ensure client and attorney satisfaction throughout the engagement lifecycle
    • Track the expected end of engagement, contact clients regarding renewing engagements, and help the attorney transition their projects appropriately once an engagement end
    • Provide regular reports on all active and potential engagements, including fulfillment activity, fulfillment success, engagement status, and communications with clients and attorneys
    • Manage and optimize the client engagement processes
    • Use FLEX data management system to track and monitor client leads and potential and active client engagements
    • Direct the Finance department on the preparation of monthly and supplemental invoices, track status of payments, and communicate with the client regarding payment collections
    • Develop hiring profiles (FLEX bios) to match client needs and interview and evaluate attorney candidates
    • Perform other related duties as assigned

    • Knowledge of the legal industry and legal practice areas, especially in the context of technology and life sciences companies
    • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with ability to adjust communication style to adapt appropriately to situations and comprehend complex legal and technical language
    • Highly self-motivated and works well within a team environment
    • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively under pressure with demanding deadlines (a sense of humor helps, too)
    • Strong client service ethic, outstanding interpersonal skills, and ability to learn and understand clients’ business and legal needs quickly and efficiently
    • Exceptional listening skills and ability to effectively advise clients
    • Excellent presentation skills with ability to effectively describe the attorneys to meet client needs
    • Exceptional organizational skills in keeping track of details including keeping client, attorney, and engagement information accurate in databases
    • Proficiency at developing presentations, reports, and statistics related to the effectiveness and performance of the client management function
    • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)

  • SAAS / Software Licensing Attorney

    We are actively looking for SaaS/software licensing attorneys for temporary long-term engagements with several of our clients.

    Qualifications:

    • 3+ years of experience drafting and negotiating SaaS and software licenses and commercial contracts
    • Prior large law firm and in-house experience with a cloud-based/internet software company preferred
    • Experience working directly with business/sales teams

  • Product Counsel

    We are actively looking for product counsel attorneys for temporary long-term engagements with several of our clients.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide business advice and counseling to Product Management and Engineering teams from initial product development through and past launch
    • Advise internal teams to minimize risk while balancing business interests
    • Draft and negotiate a broad range of commercial and licensing agreements
    • Remain current on applicable international laws and regulations surrounding IP, privacy, content regulation, and consumer protection.

    Qualifications:

    • 5+ years of relevant experience
    • Prior product counseling experience with a technology company
    • Prior experience in copyright, privacy, advertising law, or content regulation is helpful
    • A collaborative, “can do” attitude and responsive, clear communication style.

    • Drafting contest and sweepstakes rules, sponsorships, joint promotion, and coupon offers
    • Online advertising and digital marketing, including display and banner ads, targeting, and insertion orders
    • Preparing templates related to display advertising, search marketing/optimization, ad targeting and re-targeting, web and search analytics, and ad networks
    • Negotiating MSAs, SOWs, content and merchandise licensing agreements, and general commercial transactions
    • Providing general legal support to marketing and advertising teams

    Responsibilities/qualifications:

    • Provide legal advice on full gamut of employment law matters, including hiring and termination, wage and hour rules, disability accommodation, family and medical leave, harassment and discrimination, employee privacy, performance management, contingent worker rules, restrictive covenants, and employee investigations
    • Create, update, and implement employment handbooks and other workforce-related policies
    • Assess and handle pre-litigation employment claims, administrative proceedings, and litigation in consult with outside litigation counsel
    • Strong command of Federal and state (especially California, New York, and/or Washington) labor and employment law
    • Ability to think strategically and creatively while providing practical counsel to HR and business

  • Privacy Counsel

    We are actively looking for privacy attorneys for temporary long-term engagements with several of our clients. The ideal candidate will have significant privacy experience, particularly supporting technology companies with:

    • Counseling business partners on domestic and international privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA), regulations, and industry best practices
    • Drafting and negotiating B2B and B2C contracts and disclosures, including privacy policies, TOS, and EULAs
    • Ensuring that privacy matters are incorporated at the design stage into all products and ensuring compliance with privacy policies and procedures
    • Supporting sales and procurement teams in reviewing and negotiating privacy and security contractual provisions as necessary, including remediation of existing contracts

    We are actively looking for technology transactions attorneys for temporary long-term engagements with several of our clients. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience drafting, negotiating, and reviewing various manufacture and supply agreements, component purchase agreements, consultant agreements, and distribution agreements. A deep understanding of supply chain management, warranty, delivery, warehousing, and IP ownership issues is key, as is experience working directly with sales teams.

    We are actively looking for M&A attorneys for temporary long-term engagements with several of our clients. Experience in the following areas is key:

    • Advising on the full lifecycle of merger and acquisition transactions, from initial structuring and letter of intent, through due diligence, deal structuring, and closing
    • Working with internal teams and outside counsel to manage IP, securities, employment benefits, tax, and other corporate matters impacting M&A deals
    • Preparing and reviewing disclosure schedules, tracking diligence materials, and creating and updating supplemental request lists
    • Handling contract negotiations and integration and transition service agreements
    • Drafting term sheets and other preliminary documentation
    • Managing regulatory filings and approvals, closing preparation, and post-closing integration
