Fenwick privacy & cybersecurity counsel Helen Christakos has been named among the top cybersecurity lawyers in California by the Daily Journal. This is her second consecutive year to have earned this recognition, this year bestowed upon only 20 lawyers statewide.
Christakos provides cutting-edge legal advice by blending her privacy and data security experience with a business-minded approach to intellectual property and technology issues in commercial transactions. She helps technology and life sciences companies navigate the complex and ever-changing privacy, internet and cybersecurity laws governing the collection, use, storage and disclosure of information.
She routinely counsels companies in numerous industries on California Consumer Privacy Act compliance, including data mapping, drafting policies, implementing opt-out mechanisms, vendor contract review and renegotiation, and drafting security policies.
In addition to her law practice, Christakos is an adjunct professor at Santa Clara University School of Law. She developed the curriculum for and teaches the school’s inaugural cybersecurity law class and also teaches classes in technology and IP licensing.
