Mountain View, CA (May 20, 2015) – Fenwick & West is pleased to announce that securities enforcement co-chair Susan Muck has been named again by the Daily Journal as one of the Top Women Lawyers of 2015. The feature honors the achievements of California's leading women attorneys.

In selecting Muck, the Daily Journal pointed to two of her recent courtroom wins.

In the first case, Muck convinced the Ninth Circuit to affirm the dismissal of a securities class action against Fenwick client Immersion Corp. As theDaily Journal noted, this outcome created "a strong defense to securities cases that are based solely on the announcement of an internal investigation."

In the second litigation, a California court of appeal affirmed a previous decision to deny a derivative suit. The claim asserted that an investigation by a special committee of the Charles Schwab Board of Trustees into certain of the fund's investments had been inadequate. Muck was counsel to the committee in the investigation.

In the Daily Journal profile, Muck said she especially enjoys "representing companies and individuals in investigations," because they give her "the chance to work one-on-one at the most senior levels of the company – usually with either the executives or board or both."

It can be a plus for women lawyers to play a lead role in these matters, she added: "Because there are so many companies in Silicon Valley that have women in senior management, I think it's important for management and boards to get to work with women as much as possible."

Muck was also recognized by Best Lawyers as one of the 2014-15 Lawyers of the Year and by Law360 as one of only six Securities MVPs of the year, “attorneys who had extraordinary wins and contributed most to their practice area in the past year.”
