May 3, 2010 (Mountain View, CA) – Fenwick & West LLP, a leading technology and life sciences law firm with offices in Silicon Valley, San Francisco and Seattle, is pleased to announce today that leading corporate attorney, Jeffrey M. Bloom, has joined the firm as partner, and will lead the Fenwick & West Investment Fund Formation Practice in its Mountain View office.
Fenwick's Chairman Gordon K. Davidson stated "Jeff is the perfect choice to lead our Investment Fund Formation Practice. He has extraordinary business judgment as well as strong legal skills and a deep grounding in fund structuring and tax considerations. In addition, his ten years of experience as general counsel and a senior executive of a substantial international fund-of-funds investment firm gives him unusual visibility into the current trends in venture capital and private equity fund formation, fund raising and investing. We have worked closely with Jeff over the last year and a half and are very impressed by his combination of rare talents."
Mr. Bloom stated, "Fenwick & West is the right fit for me. Its leading start-up practice and strong relationships with venture capital and private equity funds make it the ideal platform on which to build an investment fund formation practice. I am particularly attracted by the collaborative culture of the firm and its vision for the future of the practice of law."
Mr. Bloom brings to Fenwick & West his expertise and experience in all areas of private equity and venture capital, representing fund sponsors, institutional investors, private equity and venture capital funds, hedge funds, and high net worth individuals.

In 2009, Capital Dynamics acquired Silicon Valley-based HRJ Capital (formerly known as Champion Ventures), an independent fund-of-funds investment firm with approximately $2.1 billion of assets under management, where Mr. Bloom served as the company's Managing Director, Chief Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for eight years.
Prior to joining HRJ Capital, Mr. Bloom served as Chief Financial Officer for Storm Ventures, a Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm focused on the communications and information technology sector.
