Mountain View, CA (April 27, 2015) – Fenwick & West is pleased to announce that corporate partner and former firm chairman Gordy Davidson has been selected as an inaugural fellow of the newly formed American College of Governance Counsel, a professional, educational and honorary association of lawyers who are widely recognized for their achievements in the field of corporate governance.
Membership in the College is extended by invitation only to lawyers who have made significant, sustained contributions to the governance community through their practices, speaking, writing and thought leadership.
Davidson, who has been named one of the 100 Most Influential Lawyers in America three times, has represented boards of directors, audit committees and executives in countless special investigations and other corporate governance matters over the course of his career. He has also shared his knowledge widely, including as a speaker at Stanford Law School's Directors' College.
The mission of the new College is to promote a high level of professional standards among governance practitioners, as well as a better understanding and broader adoption of best governance practices within business organizations. Founded by leading U.S. and Canadian corporate governance lawyers, it will organize programs to address the major governance issues facing business enterprises, including developing challenges to traditional models of governance, risk management, shareholder engagement, and an increasingly complex regulatory and enforcement environment.
Davidson is one of only 36 lawyers elected by the College's Board of Trustees to its inaugural class. The College also has 14 Founding Fellows and nine Honorary Fellows. The full list of Officers and Trustees is available here, and the list of Fellows and Honorary Fellows can be found here.
