Fenwick Supports USPTO Patent Pro Bono Program

Providing Low-Cost Legal Assistance to Independent Inventors and Small Businesses Pursuing Patents

Mountain View, CA (March 9, 2012) – Fenwick & West LLP is pleased to announce that, in conjunction with Intel and California Lawyers for the Arts, it is a founding member of the steering committee established to assist the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in launching the Northern California Pro Bono Patent Program.

"We are pleased to be part of this unique and important effort to provide low-cost legal services to under-resourced inventors and small businesses that need help obtaining patents," said Fenwick intellectual property partner Stuart Meyer. "Intellectual property and patent prosecution are a core focus of our practice, making this a natural and fitting partnership."

"The USPTO's Northern California Pro Bono Program will likely be up and running by the end of the year. We believe it has the potential to create many new opportunities within Silicon Valley’s densely populated community of entrepreneurs and inventors, some of whom lack access to the legal services needed to secure their intellectual property," said Fenwick patent attorney Sabra-Anne Truesdale.
