Fenwick & West LLP Announces 2005 Partnership Class

October 14, 2004 (Mountain View, CA) - Fenwick & West LLP announced today that it has elected six associates to join the Firm's partnership, effective January 1, 2005. The new partners are Michael W. Farn, Karen Marie Kitterman, Andrew Y. Luh, Patrick E. Premo, Michael J. Sacksteder and Sayre E. Stevick.

Michael W. Farn. Michael is a member of the Intellectual Property Group and is resident in the Mountain View office. His practice emphasizes patents, licensing and contracts, as well as mergers and acquisitions. He received his J.D. (with distinction) from Stanford Law School in 1997, his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Stanford University in 1991 and his B.S. in electrical engineering and mechanical engineering from Penn State University in 1986. From 1990 to 1994, he was a member of the technical staff at MIT/Lincoln Laboratory, where his primary responsibilities focused on inventing new optical technologies and preparing them for commercialization.

Karen Marie Kitterman. Karen is a member of the Intellectual Property Group and is resident in the Mountain View office. Her practice focuses primarily on international trademark and domain counseling, prosecution and policing, including the development and management of international trademark portfolios and trademark rights in cyberspace. She received her J.D. from UC, Hastings College of the Law in 1993 and her B.A. in history from UC Berkeley (Phi Beta Kappa) in 1990.

Andrew Y. Luh. Andrew is a member of the Corporate Group and is resident in the Mountain View office. His practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, general corporate representation of technology clients and transactional representation on mergers and acquisitions, venture capital financings, securities offerings and related matters. He received his J.D. (Order of the Coif) from Stanford University in 1996 and his B.A. in economics (Phi Beta Kappa) from the University of Virginia in 1993.

Patrick E. Premo. Patrick is a member of the Litigation Group and is resident in the Mountain View office. His practice focuses on intellectual property and complex commercial litigation involving technology companies, with a particular emphasis on copyright, patent, trade secrets and technology performance. He received his J.D. (magna cum laude) from Santa Clara University in 1996, his M.A. from England's University of Durham in 1990 and his B.S. in political science from Santa Clara University in 1989.

Michael J. Sacksteder. Michael is a member of the Litigation Group and is resident in the San Francisco office. His practice focuses primarily on patent litigation, but also encompasses other substantive areas of intellectual property law, including copyright, trade secret, trademark and unfair competition. He received his J.D. (magna cum laude, Order of the Coif) from Northwestern University School of Law in 1997 and his B.A. (with honors) from Indiana University in 1984. Prior to attending law school, Michael worked as a television journalist.

Sayre E. Stevick. Sayre is a member of the Corporate Group and is resident in the Mountain View office. His practice concentrates on the representation of high technology companies on a variety of transactions, including venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions and public offerings. He received his J.D. (magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, member of the Thurston Honor Society) from UC, Hastings College of the Law in 1997 and his B.A. in political science from the University of California at Berkeley, in 1990.
