September 29, 2006 (Mountain View, CA) – Fenwick & West LLP announced today that International Tax Review, the leading publication covering the tax industry, named the firm Tax Litigation Firm of the Year for the Americas and Tax Firm of the Year for San Francisco.

The final nominees included Baker & McKenzie, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw and McDermott Will & Emery.

Jim Fuller, chair of the Fenwick & West Tax Group, is referenced as, "the biggest tax superstar of all time with world class clients." He has also been described as, "a marvelous individual, both creative and smart." Tax partners David Forst, Ron Schrotenboer, Jennifer Fuller and Ward Connolly are also cited as key components of the group's strength.

The publication further highlights Fenwick & West as, "a formidable tax litigation group led by Kenneth Clark" and partner Barton Bassett is described as "a real up and coming star, one to watch in tax litigation." ITR also cited the firm's work on the Xilinx cases as, "groundbreaking with broad ramifications for the US transfer pricing rules."

During the period of March 2006 to September 2006, International Tax Review's researchers and journalists interviewed corporate tax directors and advisors to compile tiers of leading tax firms. For each country or regional award, the magazine's editorial staff compiles its list, in part, from more than 150 face-to-face and telephone interviews.

"We take pride in these awards," said Jim Fuller "because they reflect the value our peers and clients place on the services we provide as tax counsel." The firm serves 38 of the Fortune 100 and has made tax history through the Xilinx case this year. The firm also consistently ranks as one of the top M&A practices in the U.S. and was recently named one of the top law firms in northern California for publicly traded companies.
