Mountain View, CA (March 12, 2013) – The Daily Journal recognized Fenwick partner Robert Hulse as one of the top 20 lawyers in California under the age of 40 for his patent prosecution work. Published since 1993, the annual list includes lawyers who have worked on cases that advanced the law or had an impact on the legal community, a particular industry or society.
Hulse, who focuses on building high-value patent profiles for leading technology companies, is a member of a small population of patent prosecution attorneys who can write, prosecute and sell patents. He says he is currently handling approximately 1,800 patent applications and filed about 300 patents last year.
In addition to big name clients BlackRock (Barclay’s Global Investors), HTC and Virgin Mobile, among others, Hulse represents a number of start-up companies, including such noteworthy new companies as Flipboard, Livescribe, Chegg, RockMelt and Delphix.
"I try to get in on the ground floor and function almost as an in-house counsel and really use their products," Hulse said. "I try to understand the business and the marketplace better."
Hulse has already been honored by a number of important publications this year, including Law360’s national Top Attorneys Under 40, IAM Patent 1000’s World’s Leading 1000 Patent Practitioners, Euromoney's LMG Life Sciences’ Life Sciences Stars and the Daily Journal’s Top 25 Intellectual Property Portfolio Managers in California.
