The $400 million settlement that Fenwick & West helped its client Compuware secure against IBM ranks as the 7th largest IP litigation award or settlement of 2005, according to IP Law Bulletin. Fenwick & West represented Compuware in a case involving claims against IBM for copyright infringement, trade secret misappropriation, violation of antitrust laws and related state law claims, as well as claims by IBM for copyright infringement and infringement of more than a dozen patents. The case settled in March 2005, five weeks into a jury trial in U.S. District Court in Detroit, Michigan.
