HP Names new General Counsel and Thanks Fenwick's David Healy

Fenwick & West client Hewlett-Packard announced today the permanent appointment of their new General Counsel, John Schultz. David Healy, Co-Chair of Fenwick’s Mergers & Acquisition Group, has been serving since December 2011 as HP’s interim general counsel during the search for the permanent candidate. Mr. Healy will be returning to his full practice shortly.

HP was kind enough to acknowledge Mr. Healy’s service as interim general counsel in their press release announcing John Schultz as the new GC: “Schultz will succeed David Healy, who has served as interim general counsel since December 2011. Healey is partner and co-chair of the Mergers and Acquisition Group at Fenwick & West LLP, a law firm that advises HP. He played an integral role in advising HP on a number of critical business issues."

“I want to thank David Healy for all of his efforts on behalf of HP,” said Meg Whitman, President and Chief Executive Officer of HP. “David provided strong leadership during a challenging period of transition at HP. We’re all grateful for his contributions.”
