ITC Blocks Counterfeit Phone Mounting Device Imports

Law360 reported that the U.S. International Trade Commission issued a general exclusion order to halt imports of counterfeit phone mounters after determining that a number of Chinese companies infringed patents and a trademark registration owned by National Products Inc. (NPI).

The exclusion order is the end result of an investigation launched by the ITC in October 2017 following NPI’s request.

According to Law360, the ITC concluded that multiple companies infringed five patents and one trademark registration, violating Section 337 of the Tariff Act.

"NPI is pleased that the ITC entered a general exclusion order, which it expects will help significantly in its fight to stop counterfeits and other infringing products from being imported from China," Fenwick litigation partner David Tellekson said.

Tellekson noted that a general exclusion order will block any infringing products from entering the country, rather than just those by the named companies.
