Life Sciences, Tech IPOs Rise, Fenwick Says

Fenwick’s IPO Survey, a biannual report on technology and life sciences initial public offerings, was covered by Bloomberg, which quoted Fenwick partner and securities co-chair Rob Freedman on the markets in 2014.

Fenwick's IPO Survey, co-authored by partners Dan Winnike and Jeff Vetter, found a 62 percent increase in IPO activity over 2012, with 78 IPOs in the technology and life sciences industries in 2013.

“Even though the market in 2014 has corrected a bit, we’re still seeing lots of activity,” Freedman told Bloomberg. “Valuations may be lower, but the markets have not shut down.”

The survey also found, as Bloomberg notes, that for the first time ever all technology and life sciences companies eligible to file confidentially under the JOBS Act did so in the second half of 2013.
