Rising Star: Fenwick’s Stephen Fisher

Fenwick corporate partner Stephen Fisher talked to The Deal about his legal background and his work with technology and life sciences companies as an M&A lawyer.

Fisher focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, complex strategic transactions, corporate governance and general corporate matters. His experience includes domestic and international transactions, public and private company mergers, stock and asset sales and purchases, divestitures, tender offers, exchange offers, investments and joint ventures.

Fisher noted he particularly enjoys cross-border work because of its complexity and often-compressed time frame, and talked about his background in systems engineering at the U.S. Naval Academy and electrical engineering at Pennsylvania State University.

The publication highlighted Fisher’s work, including multiple acquisitions for Cisco Systems, noting his representation of the company in its $2.6B acquisition of Acacia Communications and $320M acquisition of Leaba Semiconductor. The Deal also spotlighted Fisher’s representation of Loxo Oncology in its $8B acquisition by Eli Lilly and Company.

Kay Min, a director at Cisco Investments, told The Deal that Fisher “understands technological concepts and the deal process and how to look around corners. Steve is easy to deal with. He anticipates issues.”
