Jed Wakefield, chair of Fenwick’s Trademark Litigation Group, is quoted in a Los Angeles Times article titled “High-Stakes Patent Case.”
The article discusses the most recent legal developments between mobile competitors Apple Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co. in what the article calls the “smartphone patent wars.” Wakefield says that companies are willing to fight tooth-and-nail to protect their patents in such a competitive market.
"If you think back a few years, who would have foreseen the shrinking market share of players like RIM and Nokia who were such major players?" he said. "Patents give you a powerful opportunity to gain an advantage, but only for a limited window."
