October 6, 2011 (Mountain View, CA) – Fenwick & West was recently highlighted in the Bloomberg Law Reports article "Legal Project Management," regarding their innovative approach to project management, including the use of non-lawyers as project management professionals.
Jim Hannigan, a project manager with the Firm, was interviewed regarding Fenwick's legal project management system, stating that the program is designed to strengthen many areas of the Firm such as client satisfaction, realization, productivity, and ultimately lead to more engagements.
The article also discussed Fenwick's use of "historical task coding." This process allows financial analysts to review past matters, utilizing ABA task codes to evaluate specific aspects of each case such as time expended and cost. The Firm is then better able to incorporate these findings as they enter into future engagements.
Fenwick also requires the lead attorney for each case to establish a budget prior to each matter, with an in-house staff of budget analysts available to assist with this process.
