Privacy creating new demands in M&A

February 26, 2014

Stefano Quintini, a partner in Fenwick & West’s privacy group, is quoted in an article in the Daily Journal titled “Privacy Creating new Demands in M&A."

The article reports that privacy and data policy due diligence prior to an acquisition has become increasingly important, “given the increasingly intricate ways in which companies are sharing and selling data with one another behind the scenes.”

“When it comes to how privacy affects M&A, we're spending more time reviewing diligence documents, looking at the target company's data practices and policies,” Quintini told the Daily Journal.

The article notes that the state of California passed five new privacy laws last fall.
