Tracing growth of the technology industry and Fenwick’s 40-year history, The American Lawyer profiled founding partner Bill Fenwick whose vision helped guide the firm to its present day success.
The publication heralded Fenwick as a “Silicon Valley legal pioneer” and honored him among eight leaders recognized with The American Lawyer’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
Out of this intuition, the young Fenwick founded Fenwick & West in 1972 with three fellow Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton associates. Today, the firm boasts 300 lawyers; an enviable client list, including Cisco, Facebook, Intuit, Dropbox and LendingClub; and “a reputation for cutting edge work,” according to The American Lawyer.
Fenwick exists "because of Bill's vision and because of his soul," former Fenwick chair Gordon Davidson said.
