Kehl combines a broad scientific and technical background with thorough legal analysis to counsel clients in the life sciences, semiconductor, and high technology industries on intellectual property-related transactional matters.
Kehl advises on many types of IP-related commercial transactions, including IP acquisitions, licensing, collaboration agreements, supply agreements, and services agreements. He also advises clients regarding IP and material contracts issues for corporate merger transactions, strategic alliances, and financings. His life sciences practice includes clients developing biologics, small molecule drug products, and medical devices.
Prior to entering the legal profession, Kehl worked for multiple Fenwick clients, providing functional services as a patent agent and legal project manager. He held management and VP level positions at several Silicon Valley medical device and pharmaceutical companies, in both technical and operational roles. Kehl’s career started as an engineer in the semiconductor and optical engineering fields where his experience included design, process development, and testing of III-V lasers, fiber-optic components, and microelectromechanical systems (MEMS). Kehl has co-authored numerous scientific publications and made patentable contributions in multiple fields.
