David de Ruig focuses his practice on a broad variety of domestic and international tax planning and tax controversy matters. He regularly represents clients from a diverse set of industries and geographic areas, including a number of Fortune 500 companies.
Prior to joining Fenwick & West, David was a tax associate with a global law firm in New York, where his practice focused on strategic tax advice for a broad range of transactions including domestic and international M&A, bankruptcy reorganizations, capital markets and partnership transactions, as well as the development of structured products and derivatives.
David regularly speaks at conferences for professional tax groups, with an emphasis on international and partnership tax matters, and also frequently provides pro bono services to various nonprofit organizations.
While attending law school, David was a member of the Minnesota Law Review. He also served as a law clerk in the Tax Division, Civil Trial Section-Eastern Region for the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington D.C.
