Innovation: The Economy, Technology, Bio-Tech and the Law

Hosted By: UCLA Anderson School of Management

As we enter the second year of the Trump administration there are many uncertainties ahead. Chief among these for the local economy are the new tax law and the change in the regulatory environment. Overlaid on the changing Bay Area economic environment is the fast paced and radical evolution of technology. The first annual joint UC Law SF / UCLA Anderson conference will tackle these issues with presentations from the Anderson Forecast on the economic outlook for the US, CA, and Bay Area and a panel on innovation, technology and the future landscape of CA and a panel on the changing legal environment with reference to the life sciences as we look into the future to gain an understanding of what it holds for the region.

Fenwick corporate partner Sam Angus will be speaking on the technology-focused panel moderated by California's Lieutenant Governor, Gavin Newsom. Other panelists include Robin Feldman, Harry & Lillian Hastings Professor of Law and Director of the Institute for Innovation Law; Shomit Ghose, a partner at ONSET Ventures; and Trevor Darrell, director of the UC Berkeley AI Institute.
