Fenwick patent lawyer Hayan Yoon was named one of The Recorder’s Next-Generation Women Leaders in Tech Law for 2018.
She represents life sciences clients in all areas of strategic patent counseling, including patent prosecution, patent portfolio analysis and development, IP due diligence, litigation, post-issuance proceeding and opinion work.
When asked which area of technology she is most excited about and why, Yoon told The Recorder, “New therapeutics for incurable diseases because of their potential to change human lives, and efforts and devotion of multiple generations toward making them into reality.”
In Yoon’s view, the best part of working in the tech sector is the opportunities to learn about the most recent developments and to deal with new legal challenges associated with cutting-edge technologies.
With significant technical and legal experience in the fields of biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology and neuroscience, Yoon provided strategic patent counseling to companies developing biotherapeutics to help with cancer, heart disease, neuropathy, ALS and other illnesses.
Four Fenwick lawyers were recognized as 2018 women leaders in tech law for their outstanding work with technology companies and tech-related issues. Over the past two years, more Fenwick lawyers were recognized on the list than lawyers from any other company or law firm.
Yoon was recognized on the publication’s inaugural Next Generation Leaders list, which recognizes women in the first 10 years of practice who have shown promise as leaders in law and technology.
