Law360 has named Fenwick partners Doug Cogen and Susan Muck to its annual Law360 MVP list. The list honors lawyers who have distinguished themselves by securing hard-earned successes in high-stakes litigation, complex global matters and record-breaking deals.
The publication honored Cogen, who co-chairs Fenwick’s M&A group, as a Tech MVP for his excellence in technology law. Muck, who co-chairs Fenwick’s securities enforcement and corporate governance groups, was named a Securities MVP for her leadership in the securities litigation space.
Cogen focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, strategic and commercial transactions, corporate counseling and governance, securities matters, shareholder activism and takeover defense. He has steered many top tech innovators and leading serial acquirers through major industry-reshaping transactions, and his work this year alone includes leading Symantec’s $10.7 billion sale of its Enterprise Security assets to Broadcom, Loxo Oncology’s $8 billion acquisition by Eli Lilly and Company, Cisco’s $2.6 billion acquisition of Acacia Communications and Fitbit's pending $2.1 billion acquisition by Google. In 2019, Fenwick’s M&A group was named Technology M&A Law Firm of the Year for the fifth consecutive year by Global M&A Network.
A partner in Fenwick’s securities litigation group, Muck defends shareholder class actions and derivative suits, handles SEC investigations and enforcement proceedings, and regularly advises boards and management on disclosure and accounting issues, cybersecurity, FCPA and other high-profile governance matters. Muck’s team recently won dismissals for Uber’s board of directors in Delaware Chancery Court and GoPro and its officers in federal class actions in California. She also represents the Demand Review Committee of the Sempra Energy Board of Directors and is defending Box, Inc., Fitbit and Zuora in pending shareholder class actions. Following a streak of six securities litigation victories in March 2019 alone, Muck and the securities litigation team continued to secure wins for their clients, helping earn the firm recognition as a Law360 Powerhouse and one of The Recorder’s six Tech Litigation Department of the Year finalists.
