Daniel helps pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies strategically manage their patent portfolios—developing patent strategies for both early-stage assets and approved drugs and assisting clients navigating challenges arising after regulatory approval, including Orange Book listings and applications for patent term extension.
Daniel routinely drafts and prosecutes patent applications directed to a wide range of technologies relevant to life science clients. Beyond preparation and prosecution, Daniel prepares invalidity and noninfringement positions, performs freedom-to-operate and patentability analyses, and supports clients undergoing or conducting IP diligence.
Prior to entering the field of patent law, Daniel completed an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in organic chemistry and chemical biology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is an inventor on an issued U.S. patent and has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles published in highly regarded journals including the American Chemical Society Infectious Diseases, Nature Microbiology, and Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters.
