Ryan advises clients in the technology and life sciences industries on a broad variety of litigation matters.
Before joining Fenwick, Ryan was a law clerk for the U.S. Copyright Office’s Office of Policy and International Affairs, where he drafted reports to advise congress on domestic and international copyright issues, conducted research and prepared memos regarding current U.S. Supreme Court cases and international proposals affecting copyright law, and participated in meetings with the U.S. Trade Representative and WIPO member nations to ensure compliance with ISP liability and safe harbor provisions under international treaties.
Prior to that, Ryan was an intellectual property clerk at another Am Law 100 firm, where he managed multi-thousand-matter trademark and copyright portfolios, and reviewed assessments and coordinated action, arguments and evidence collection for 1,000+ incoming and ongoing global IP infringement and dispute matters.
During law school, Ryan was executive editor for the California Law Review, fellow of the Academic Skills Program, notes and comments editor for the Berkeley Technology Law Journal, and co-chair of the Queer Caucus.
