About Our India Practice
Fenwick’s India Practice Group focuses on counseling clients in the U.S. and India on high value and complex transactions in the e-commerce, mobile Internet, renewable energy and information technology industries involving the India marketplace.
Because of our extensive experience with deal making, the technology sectors and laws in both countries, clients in India and the U.S. rely on us for counsel on a wide range of corporate, intellectual property, dispute resolution and cross-border tax-related matters, including cross-border financings, mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures and corporate restructurings.
Representative India-based clients include Reliance Industries, TaTa, InMobi, SMS GupShup and Druva Software. We also represent Cisco Systems, Symantec, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Sherpalo Ventures in their investments and other transactions in India.
As with any market, having the right local relationships is imperative to successfully representing our clients. Fenwick, for example, has close working relationships with leading law firms, government and accounting/tax experts in India. In fact, at the invitation of the Supreme Court of India, Fenwick & West partner Vic Schachter is participating in a project established by the Supreme Court where mediation programs are being developed and deployed in New Delhi and Bangalore to reduce the backlog of court cases there.
