Fenwick Represents Boom in Strategic Partnership with Japan Airlines

Fenwick & West represented Boom Technology, Inc., a Denver-based airplane manufacturer aiming to bring cost-effective supersonic travel to the commercial aviation industry, in its strategic partnership with Japan Airlines (TYO: 9201), the first international airline in Japan and a member of the oneworld® alliance of leading airlines. As part of the agreement, Japan Airlines (JAL) has made a strategic investment of $10 million in Boom and has the option to purchase up to 20 Boom aircraft through a pre-order arrangement.

Through this agreement, Boom will collaborate with JAL to refine the aircraft design and define the passenger experience for supersonic travel. JAL will provide its knowledge and experience as an airline to support Boom in developing a new-generation supersonic aircraft for faster and more convenient air travel. The strategic transaction was led by corporate lawyers David Bell, Malcolm Katz, Jordan Roberts and Kyle Canchola, and technology transactions lawyer Spencer Glende.
