California Lawyers Association Honors Fenwick’s Gordy Davidson with Lifetime Achievement Award
Fenwick corporate partner Gordon Davidson has received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Business Law Section of the California Lawyers Association, a member-driven, mission-focused organization dedicated to the professional advancement of attorneys practicing in the state of California.
The Business Law Section has recognized 21 individuals since 1997 for lifetime achievement in the field of business law. The award is given each year to a CLA member who over an extended period has made significant contributions to the section or to business law generally in the State of California and who has achieved high status in the legal community.
“Gordy has been the leader and lifeblood of Fenwick & West’s Silicon Valley presence for many years; he was around when Silicon Valley was developing into the tech capital of the world,” the CLA wrote in their profile of Davidson. “Gordy’s keen interest in technology and instinct to pursue the business model of working with startups from birth to maturity has served the business law community in California well.”
Davidson’s client list includes some of the world’s most innovative technology and life sciences companies, ranging from startups to Fortune 1000 companies. He has worked on over 60 public offerings and has represented boards of directors, audit committees and executives in numerous special investigations. Davidson has also acted as lead counsel on over 100 mergers and acquisitions valued at more than $75 billion in aggregate.
The CLA highlighted his longtime representation of leading cybersecurity company Symantec, including in its pending $10.7 billion sale of its Enterprise Security assets to Broadcom. Other recent notable work includes his representation of Github in its $7.5 billion acquisition by Microsoft, Upwork’s $215.2 million IPO, Zuora’s $177.1 million IPO and Nimble Storage’s $1.2 billion acquisition by Hewlett Packard.
“Gordy and his firm’s ability to perform at a high level, in innovative and high stakes situations, makes him well-deserving of the Lifetime Achievement Award,” the profile concluded.
In addition to this honor from the CLA, Davidson is recognized by Chambers & Partners with numerous Band 1 rankings, including top nationwide recognition for startup and emerging companies work. He has been repeatedly named among the top 100 lawyers in California by the Daily Journal, was named to the Global Silicon Valley Hall of Fame and received the first Bill Campbell (Man Who Gets It) Award from Watermark.
