Fenwick Elects 2024 Partner Class

Fenwick today announced the election of five lawyers to its partnership, effective January 1, 2024.

The partners-elect, who are based in Silicon Valley, New York and San Francisco, are:

Will Black, Corporate, Silicon Valley: Will counsels emerging and high-growth companies throughout their lifecycle, from formation and launch, milestone events to an eventual exit transaction. He represents clients in a broad range of transactional, governance and corporate matters, while also providing day-to-day counseling to companies and their boards. Will also advises venture capital firms, corporate venture groups and growth investors in a wide variety of financing and governance matters. He prioritizes creating connections with and support for fellow Latinos within the startup and venture capital ecosystems.

David Feder, Litigation, New York: Dave is a former federal prosecutor who represents tech and life sciences companies in government investigations and complex civil and regulatory litigation. Drawing on his prior experience as chief of the Cybercrime Unit at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey, Dave counsels clients on sensitive cybersecurity and privacy matters, law enforcement process compliance and government contract and tax disputes. He also advises blockchain and fintech entities and helps healthcare companies navigate federal law enforcement investigations.

Ari Haber, Corporate, San Francisco: Ari focuses on a broad variety of corporate matters to support clients in the technology industry, including startups, late-stage private companies, public companies and investors. Ari advises companies at every stage of the corporate lifecycle, including formations, equity financings, capital markets transactions, other strategic transactions and day-to-day corporate matters. He also counsels clients on general corporate compliance, SEC reporting and governance issues. 

Vanessa Park Thompson, Litigation, New York: Vanessa is a trusted trial advocate and litigation strategist, representing life sciences, high tech and financial services clients in high-stakes patent, tax and commercial disputes. She also advises her clients on sophisticated global intellectual property strategies and risk mitigation, including transactional matters related to patent rights and portfolio analysis.

Hayan Yoon, IP, Silicon Valley: Hayan provides strategic patent counseling to life sciences companies ranging from early startups to mature public companies and venture capital firms. She has extensive experience in patent portfolio analysis and development, patent prosecution, IP due diligence, post-issuance proceeding and opinion work. As a former scientist, she has a deep understanding of her clients’ technologies and has advised on IP issues related to gene therapy, cell therapy, immunotherapy, antibody technology, diagnostics and bioinformatics, among others.
