Fenwick is participating in the Mansfield 5.0 program and pursuing Mansfield Certified Plus status from Diversity Lab, as part of the firm’s continuing commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Now in its fifth year, the Mansfield Rule has become the standard measure for law firms to ensure that they are working to increase the representation of historically underrepresented lawyers in law firm leadership. The program tracks whether firms consider a candidate pool that is at least 30% women lawyers, lawyers from underrepresented racial/ethnic groups, lawyers with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ lawyers for top leadership roles, recruitment, promotions into the equity partnership, and participation in client pitch meetings.
New for the Mansfield 5.0 program, firms are required to track their candidate pools in a disaggregated manner, include an option for Middle Eastern/North African identity, consider at least 30% underrepresented lawyers for nominations to Chambers USA, and consider 30% underrepresented individuals when hiring and promoting C-level or other senior-level professional staff roles.
Fenwick, one of the first firms to participate in the Mansfield Rule pilot, also participated in Mansfield 3.0 and 4.0, and has received Mansfield Certification Plus status in recent years, indicating the firm has considered and achieved 30% representation of underrepresented lawyers in many of the Mansfield Rule’s categories.
