Pat counsels clients in the healthtech and life sciences industries on a variety of privacy and data sharing matters, finding creative solutions to the complex challenges that arise as businesses grow, technology advances, and regulation continues to evolve.
Pat works closely with clients throughout their lifecycle and advises on compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, 42 C.F.R. Part 2, the FTC Health Breach Notification Rule, state health privacy laws, and GDPR, and guides clients in potential data breach and incident reviews. He is recognized as a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US and CIPP/E) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and as an Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP).
He also provides strategic healthcare regulatory counseling to clients, including the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning and 21st Century Cures Act regulations such as the Information Blocking Rules and interoperability rules. Pat regularly assists clients in healthcare transactions and advises on various healthcare agreements, such as electronic medical record agreements, healthcare technology vendor agreements, data licensing agreements, and clinical trial agreements.
Prior to joining Fenwick, Pat was an associate at an AmLaw 100 law firm in Boston and previously held positions at a major dialysis services company and at the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services.
