Hayan Yoon represents life science clients in all areas of strategic patent counseling, including patent prosecution, patent portfolio analysis and development, IP due diligence, litigation, post-issuance proceeding and opinion work.
In 2018, The Recorder named Hayan to its Next Generation Women Leaders in Tech Law list which recognizes lawyers who have shown promise as leaders in law and technology. Prior to joining Fenwick & West, Hayan was an associate at another general practice law firm where she represented life science and technology companies in patent litigation and post-grant proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Hayan has significant technical and legal experience in the fields of biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology and neuroscience. Hayan received her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Harvard University and conducted neuroscience research as a Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation fellow at the University of California, Berkeley. During law school, she was a student fellow at the Stanford Center for Law and the Biosciences and served as a Director of Finance of Stanford Biolaw & Health Policy Society.
Hayan has published several scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals as well as legal articles on patent law.
