Antonia’s early career focus included working directly in the healthcare and biotech industry, founding several startups and building Facebook’s patent portfolio from the ground up. This distinctive, hands-on background serves as the core of her successful practice at the intersection of software, medical devices and life sciences.

She has earned a reputation as an innovative, sought-after patent attorney who is highly strategic—offering counsel on favorable positioning for acquisitions as well as building long-term portfolio values across technologies and for companies of all sizes.

The volume and depth of Antonia’s patent experience means she has managed many hundreds of patent applications and handled almost eve​ry potential patent issue that can crop up.

Her technology focus includes, but is not limited to:

  • Medical and biotechnology devices, digital health, bioinformatics, laboratory automation, genomics and diagnostics
  • Virtual reality/augmented reality (VR/AR), artificial intelligence and machine learning
  • Autonomous vehicles
  • Social networking, online advertising and other software/internet technology

In addition to advising on strategic patent portfolio development and managing international patent portfolios, Antonia has years of experience in intellectual property litigation, conducting IP due diligence for M&A and financing transactions and post grant proceedings.

Antonia’s prior industry experience in hospitals and a clinical laboratory and as a researcher on the Drosophila Genome Project at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory gives her a unique perspective valued by her life sciences clients. ​

She is also a prolific writer and frequent speaker on topics ranging from cutting edge patent-specific topics to diversity issues.
