Several Fenwick Partners Named Among World’s Best for Patent Law

Fenwick’s patent team received significant accolades this year from IAM, a leading IP business media platform and publisher of industry-leading guides.

Notably, partners Jake Handy, Rajiv Patel, Jae Won Song and David Tellekson were named to the IAM Global Leaders list, which recognizes the world’s foremost patent professionals in private practice.

Additionally, Handy and Song were named to the IAM Strategy 300. This elite list identifies individuals leading the way in the development and implementation of world-class IP value creation programs.

Jake Handy: A partner in Fenwick’s technology transactions practice, Handy counsels life sciences and technology clients—ranging from emerging growth companies to established tech businesses—at formation through exit. Leveraging a background in molecular biology, Handy is recognized for his innovative, forward-thinking approach to helping early-stage biotechnology companies maximize the value of company assets.

Rajiv Patel: Patel chairs Fenwick’s intellectual property group, and for almost 25 years, has advised Silicon Valley companies at all stages of growth—from just-founded startups to mature technology companies seeking to establish, redirect or reset their IP strategy. He advises them on setting business-focused intellectual property strategies, providing counsel on key transactions, patent portfolio development, litigation, and IP audits and due diligence.

Jae Won Song: A partner in Fenwick’s patent group, Song is known for his multidisciplinary intellectual property practice, including strategic intellectual property counseling, patent prosecution and patent litigation. He represents clients primarily in the electronics and computer industry. He provides strategic patent counseling and has prosecuted a number of United States and international patents in a wide range of technology areas.

David Tellekson: Tellekson has 30 years’ experience as a trial lawyer in technology disputes—primarily patent, trade secret, advertising and contract matters. He has particularly strong experience in patent and licensing disputes in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, polymers and medical devices, as well as abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) litigation.
