IAM Patent 1000 Recognizes Fenwick Among Nation’s Leading Patent Firms

Fenwick’s patent practitioners have been recommended nationally in the 2020 issue of Law Business Research’s IAM Patent 1000, a guide to the world’s leading firms and individuals practicing patent law.

IAM Patent 1000 recognized the firm for patent transactions nationally and in California. Additionally, the guide honored Fenwick for patent prosecution work in California and for its patent litigation practice in California, New York and Washington.

The guide also honored 27 Fenwick lawyers as leading practitioners in California, Washington and New York in the patent transactions, patent prosecution and patent litigation categories, as well as nationally for post-grant proceedings.

“Whichever part of Fenwick’s multifaceted patent practice you place under the microscope, you see growth, development and dynamism,” the IAM Patent 1000 guide said, describing Fenwick’s California practice. “The ensemble’s prosecution pros are in their prime and offer energetic, entrepreneurial support to the portfolios of many global technology paradigm shifters; its litigators are surging in spite of an overall decline in the patent litigation market; and the transactions team—in hot demand as patents become a critical driver of many wider collaborations—are in the thick of cutting-edge areas such as gene therapy and crossover fields such as digital health.”

The guide also praised the firm’s New York patent practice. “Fenwick’s New York pharmaceutical litigation practice—and broader high-tech patent litigation offering—is going from strength to strength; on a repeat basis, prestigious life sciences and other companies dial up [the firm’s] seasoned trial lawyers.”

Additionally, in Washington, the litigation practice “commends the firm,” IAM Patent 1000 noted, highlighting that partner Melanie Mayer “performs well whatever the technology at issue, but is at her best in the biotechnology area” and that partner David Tellekson is “a veteran of notable campaigns in the life sciences, chemical and medical device industries.”

Fenwick’s complete United States, California, Washington and New York rankings are available through the IAM Patent 1000 website.
