Stefano focuses his practice on structuring and negotiating complex business deals such as partnering and collaboration agreements, joint ventures and option deals across multiple industries, with a focus on therapeutics, diagnostics (including CDx), medical devices, as well as data-driven businesses. He is also involved in corporate transactions such as asset acquisitions, spin-outs, mergers and venture capital investments in the life sciences and technology spaces.

Stefano is active in the digital healthcare community, representing companies in the data analytics, cost transparency, EMR and telehealth spaces and regularly negotiates agreements with payors. Stefano speaks at conferences and meetings on topics related to where the law and technology converge for these companies. He also serves as an advisor to the nation’s leading digital health incubator, Rock Health, in San Francisco.

Stefano has a passion for sustainability and innovation. He has represented clients in the climatetech industry, including solar energy companies, in corporate transactions.

Stefano regularly counsels clients with respect to a broad range of privacy issues, with a particular focus on medical data (including HIPAA compliance, HIPAA Business Associate Agreements and data use agreements for health information), artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Stefano is also regularly involved in university licensing and complex spin-off transactions and has dealt with most leading U.S. universities, as well as a number of foreign institutions.
