Antonia has earned a reputation as an innovative, sought-after IP lawyer who is highly strategic and uniquely focused on life sciences companies with multidisciplinary technologies at the intersection of biotechnology, device and high tech.
She’s built successful international IP portfolios from the ground up for startup and emerging companies in both life sciences (diagnostics, therapeutics, medical devices) and in software (including for Facebook and other household names), and at the intersection of the two (bioinformatics, digital health). Her years of work in patent litigation representing life sciences and software companies also lend Antonia a litigator’s perspective on patent drafting.
Antonia partners with her clients in every aspect, effectively becoming a member of the company team and guiding them on the most strategic path to building foundational IP protection and long-term portfolio value, while also advising on how to focus the IP budget where it will be most effective. She is a leader in guiding life sciences companies through successful financings, acquisitions and other business deals. And, having managed a huge volume (many hundreds) of patents internationally from filing to grant, Antonia’s depth of skill in addressing every challenge that might arise in a patent portfolio is a key asset.
Antonia’s prior industry experience in hospitals and a clinical laboratory, as a researcher on the Drosophila Genome Project at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and as a founder of startup companies, gives her a multifaceted perspective valued by her life sciences clients.
A prolific writer and frequent speaker on topics ranging from cutting-edge patent-specific topics to diversity issues, Antonia has authored:
- “Gender Diversity in Patenting: Current Landscape and Recommendations, Intellectual Property Bulletin, Fenwick, Fall 2018
- “Navigating Digital Health Patents in a Post-Alice World,” eHealth Law & Policy Journal, August 31, 2016
Antonia is also actively involved in Wogrammer, a part of the AnitaB.org Institute, an organization aimed at breaking stereotypes and inspiring women and girls to pursue careers in STEM.

In addition, Antonia heads up the firm’s digital health patent practice, with strong expertise in telehealth and mHealth, EMRs, and patient and physician software platforms and mobile apps.
