(July 1, 2014) – Fenwick & West announced that deals the firm advised on in 2013 were named “Technology Deal of the Year” and “Emerging Markets Deal of the Year” at this year’s M&A Atlas Awards for Global Markets. In addition, mergers and acquisitions group co-chair Doug Cogen was named a Top 50 Global M&A Dealmaker.
Fenwick represented Cisco Systems Inc. in its $2.7 billion acquisition of Sourcefire, Inc., named Technology Deal of the Year. It was Cisco’s largest acquisition in 2013.
In addition, Fenwick was recognized for its role advising Spreadtrum Communications in its going private acquisition by Tsinghua Unigroup Ltd., named Emerging Markets Deal of the Year. Spreadtrum Communications, a leading fabless semiconductor provider based in China, was acquired for $1.78 billion, in the largest announced semiconductor acquisition in more than a year.
