Nicholas Plassaras focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation and counseling, with an emphasis on copyright, trademark, false advertising, right of publicity, and complex commercial litigation matters. Nicholas works closely with our video game clients, advising them at all stages of game development, marketing, and dispute resolution. He provides strategic counseling on IP enforcement, new business models, and branding strategy. Nicholas also regularly assists clients with copyright registration, recordation, ownership, assignment, and fair use. Nicholas has successfully resolved disputes in federal and state court, through commercial arbitration, and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
Nicholas is an active member of the Video Game Bar Association. He regularly authors articles and lectures on the intersection between intellectual property and the video games industry, including publications in Law360 and Venturebeat, and recent speaking engagements at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law and the Game Business and Legal Affairs Conference sponsored by the Video Game Bar Association.
While attending law school, Nicholas was Executive Comments Editor for the Chicago Journal of International Law and served as a Judicial Extern to Chief Judge Alex Kozinski for the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
